Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t take hundreds of dollars per month and three hours every day to get into shape. It is possible to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle, even if your budget is bare and you barely have time to breathe. These activities will fit into your schedule without purging your pocket. Hiking Park entrance fees aside, hiking is an activity you can enjoy with friends and family for free. And even more than simply getting in shape, hiking will help you get in touch with nature, which studies have shown can have a positive impact on your mood. The Healthy Living section of Huff Post reports that hikers are among the fittest people out there and enjoy lower blood pressure and longer attention spans than the rest of us. Hiking on dirt trails is also easier on the joints than pounding the pavement. Running There’s no denying that running is good for the heart. Even a short five or 10 minutes jog each day can drastically lower your chances of dying from cardiovascular disease. Fitness further reports that running triggers a chemical in the brain that produces euphoria and burns an astounding 12.2 cal per minute. Another significant benefit of running is that you don’t have to have any special equipment, just a pair of practical running shoes and a desire to strengthen your core, legs, heart, and lungs. Yoga Like hiking, yoga provides a boost for both mind and body. It’s also one of the easiest ways to put yourself in a relaxed mindful state. Yoga and guided focus are used nationwide as alternative therapy in addiction recovery to help people overcome both physical, mental, and emotional burdens. DrugRehab.org explains, “This is because these activities allow you to focus your mind and can relieve stress and anxiety, both of which are triggers for relapse in many individuals who are in recovery. Trampoline Trampolines aren’t just for kids, although bouncing for half an hour with your children is an excellent way to burn calories while toning and tightening every muscle in the body. If you don’t have kids or the room in your yard for a recreational trampoline, a small fitness trampoline will get the job done. Not only is jumping on a trampoline fun, but this specific motion encourages your lymphatic system to rid itself of waste. Jumping also improves coordination and balance and is a relatively low impact form of cardiovascular exercise. Take extra steps How many steps in a 24 hour day does it take to meet general fitness guidelines? According to Fitbit: 10,000. That’s just enough strides to equal five miles…When you think of it that way, it’s an impressive feat for your feet. While it can be hard to figure out exactly how to get that many steps in on an average day, it’s possible if you look for opportunities. Here are a few ideas: park as far away as possible at the grocery store. Make two trips instead of one to the laundry room for each load. Walk to the mailbox instead of stopping on your way into the driveway,
Whether you’re hiking, jogging, jumping or sneaking in a little yoga under the stars, keeping your body in motion is paramount to a healthy body and mind. Dr. Edward R. Laskowski of the Mayo Clinic says just 30 minutes of physical activity each day will go a long way toward improving your health. And, when you break it up into short burst of activity, there’s no excuses for not getting off the couch or away from your computer.

Pioneering Paddle YogaLake Tahoe Yoga is now listing their classes on Airbnb. Our experiences are unique to our studio. In 2010 we pioneered the practice of Paddle Yoga on Lake Tahoe. After successfully building our Beach Yoga classes and many hours of gazing upon the beauty of the lake, it just made sense to find a way to take the practice out onto the water. Luckily, a local Paddle Shop had just opened and was willing to take a chance on us. Our Experience ShowsWe have simplified the process of booking and joining our Paddle Yoga Practices. We take care of everything prior to the session to make sure that when you arrive, we are ready to focus upon guiding you as paddlers and yogis. Upon requesting a booking at Airbnb you will receive a confirmation email with our waiver forms that can be completed prior to the session. We'll keep track of all of the necessary details leading up to the session and contact you in the case of any changes. Beginner Paddlers are WelcomeThe #1 question we get asked is, "How many people fall in?" Our answer, "Few." Most of the practitioners who fall in do so because they want to, or they aren't paying attention. We do everything we can to help you feel comfortable stepping from the shore onto your board and while moving through Asana. From the moment we meet up our intention is to help you to feel welcome, comfortable and ready to have a Yoga Adventure. Our experience of over 8 years of guiding these practices and deepening our knowledge of Yoga is expressed in everything we do. When do most people fall in? On the way back to shore. After the practice they feel so relaxed that they forget the basics and let go of control while paddling back. Practice In The SandIf you still feel uncomfortable with the idea of balancing on a board while moving through Asana perhaps a Beach Asana practice sounds more accessible. You may book these on Airbnb, as well. Check out our schedule for additional classes not listed.
The Basics of the Practice of YogaEveryone has their own preferences. Some of us are followers, some leaders, some travel to the beat of their own drum. Luckily, Yoga does not come with a rule book, but more so a set of guidelines. Yoga is the practice of: Movement, Breath, Mindfulness, Focus, Awareness, Observation, Direction and Intention. Generally speaking, if you have all of that, then you are practicing Yoga and you can do so anywhere. How to Practice YogaThe fact that Yoga is a lifestyle and should be done everywhere is what makes it so great! You can practice in a studio, on your lawn, upon a roof deck, on a boat, in an airplane, you name it! So, why haven't you tried Yoga yet? Be A BeginnerWe all begin at the beginning. Be forgiving of yourself when you try Yoga for the first time. No one knows all of the moves or understands what everything means upon their first try. If Yoga was easy, we wouldn't call it a practice. How to prepare: Be ready to really listen to your instructor or teacher. Take your time and look around to see what others are doing. Stay calm and take breaks as you need to. Practice with FriendsBook a Group Private Session for yourself and your friends. In this way, you get to try out Yoga with people whom you have fun. You also might make some memories along the way and introduce some of your friends to something they never would have tried. Get your colleges and coworkers together for a corporate practice. Who knows, it might even turn into a new tradition. Get CreativeSeek out a unique offering that goes beyond that which is expected. Book a session that includes a boat ride, live music or cocktails to follow. Find a studio that offers on-location practices and have them visit your house, hotel or dock. Focus Upon Your SelfAddress your individual needs. Focus upon getting stronger, more flexible, sleep, energy, lifestyle or mental health. Learn how Yoga can be therapy.
